United Airlines to Start Daily LAX to Melbourne Flights

United Airlines is to start offering daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia, over the Christmas period.

Starting December 17 and running until February 1, 2009, the new service will be in addition to the current daily flights the carrier operates from Los Angeles to Sydney, and San Francisco to Sydney.

Alison Espley, General Manager of United Airlines Australia and New Zealand, was quoted by AsiaTravelTips.com as saying: "Traditionally, we have seen an increased demand for flights during the peak Christmas travel period.

"We are delighted to be able to meet this demand by adding a seasonal nonstop service from Melbourne."

After the peak period, United will resume flights from LA to Melbourne via Sydney.
