US Airways to Add New San Luis Obispo Flights
US Airways has confirmed plans to introduce additional flights at San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport (Web site: www.sloairport.com).
The carrier will add a daily flight from SLO to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on December 18, taking the number of services between the cities up to three per day.
Flights were previously offered from San Luis Obispo to Phoenix by American Airlines, however services were suspended earlier this year. The airport also lost flights from American Eagle and Delta Air Lines.
Meetings have since taken place between the airport, the local Economic Vitality Corp, the Chamber of Commerce and US Airways.
Klaasje Nairne, Interim Manager for the San Luis Obispo County’s Regional Airport, told The Tribune: "The day that American Airlines announced it was leaving, we went to work with the US Airways route planners.
"They saw the opportunity to fill the vacuum caused by the loss of service by American Eagle and Delta."
