US Airways to Cut Nonstop Pittsburgh-Florida Flight
US Airways is to end all nonstop flights between Pittsburgh and Florida from January 5, 2009.
The carrier will end 11 services to Orlando (one to two a day), seven a week to Fort Lauderdale (one a day), and six a week to Tampa, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
From next year, those who wish to travel on US Airways from Pittsburgh to Florida will have to change at either Philadelphia or Charlotte.
Morgan Durrant, a spokesman for the carrier, told the newspaper that the Florida cuts were due to a 3 to 5 percent reduction in capacity the airline is undertaking to offset rising fuel costs.

Great, more delays in Philadelphia, as if it wasn't bad enough! Pittsburgh is such a great airport and not being used to its full advantage.

This totally sucks! Sadly I often have to travel between the two for work so I'll have to remember to avoid US Airways so I'm not stuck on a flight connecting god knows where!
