36% Fewer Seats from Sacramento to Hawaii

Scheduled passenger capacity on flights from Sacramento to Hawaii will be down by more than a third (36 per cent) from October to December, compared to the three months before, according to new figures.

The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (Web site: hawaii.gov) said that all seats from the U.S. mainland to Hawaii will see a drop of 15.3 per cent.

The drop in capacity from Sacramento appears to be a direct result of the closure of Aloha Airlines early this year, which provided direct flights from Sacramento International Airport to Maui, the Sacramento Business Journal reports.

About 24,000 seats are still available from Sacramento to Honolulu, but since all the Maui capacity has ended, visitors to other islands either must change planes in Honolulu or use other airlines with direct flights.
