Allegiant Air Suspends Flights from MidAmerica to Florida
Allegiant Air is suspending all flights from MidAmerica St Louis Airport (Web site: www.flymidamerica.com) to Orlando Sanford International Airport (Web site: www.orlandosanfordairport.com).
The Belleville News Democrat reports that the carrier usually ends services on the route by early summer as a result of low demand at that time.
However, Allegiant will not be resuming services for fall or winter as a result of higher fuel costs, as well as competition from Southwest Airlines that operates at Lambert International Airport in St Louis.
Tyri Squyres, a spokeswoman for the carrier, told the newspaper: "You have great low-cost service from Southwest. We have to be fair and competitive, and that doesn't allow us to have the pricing ability that we normally enjoy in our markets."
She added that services to Las Vegas would be unaffected.

I do wish Allegiant would resume flights from Ft Wayne, IN to Phx-Mesa, AZ. I flew their flight twice and it was a great flight. I would be glad to pay more per ticket to have this flight. The attendants were very nice and it was a great flight! No extended wait to take off. Both times I flew, the flight was full. Even if Allegiant would fly only once a week, I would adjust to their schedule. Even if they would fly Nov. through April, I would be thrilled!
