Boeing Strike Holds Off V Australia U.S. Flights

An on-going strike by Boeing (Web site: www.boeing.com) machinists is delaying the inaugural of nonstop U.S. service by V Australia (Web site: www.vaustralia.com.au) between Los Angeles (LAX) and Sydney (SYD). What was to have been a December launch is now slated for February 28, 2009.

V Australia plans to use Boeing 777s on the long transpacific route.

Also threatened by the on-going Boeing machinists' walkout are a slew of 787 Dreamliner deliveries. The eco-friendly, ultra-long range craft represent the future of the Boeing Commercial Airplane Company.
