Ontario International Airport Closes a Parking Lot
Ontario International Airport (ONT) took a bit of a hit when ExpressJet (Web site: www.xjet.com) folded its branded (but not contract) flying recently. ONT was a key airport in the carrier’s scheme of things.
Now comes word that Ontario is locking the gate on a parking lot. The easternmost major commercial airport in the Los Angeles Basin (some 35 miles east of downtown) is shutting down Lot F, effective October 14. F is located at the corner of Airport Drive and Vineyard Avenue.
The move comes as “staff is looking at ways to reduce costs to the airlines that operate out of ONT,” says Airport Manager Jess Romo. He insists even with the closure the airport “will provide enough parking for travelers.”
If you frequented Lot F, ONT says a good alternative is Lot 5. It’s located just east of Terminal 4. It’s also cheaper than other on-airport lots: $8 per day. Lot 5 is within walking distance of Terminal 4. If your flight departs from Terminal 2, take the free shuttle bus. It runs every ten minutes.
