Soon, Nonstop Sojourns from Sao Paulo to Central Florida
Amid all the turmoil gripping world markets just now it’s significant that TAM (Web site: www.tam.com) apparently intends to go ahead with the launch of nonstop Orlando (MCO) to Sao Paulo (GRU) service. The start date is November 21. The price tag is $929 for a round-trip seat in economy, exclusive of taxes and fees.
While economy is where most of the seats are, it will be instructive to see just how many executive class seats TAM can sell on board its A330s – at $4,583 per pop round trip, excluding taxes and fees. The craft sport 42 executive class seats, and 171 in economy.
Were it not for Brazil’s recently robust economy it’s doubtful that TAM would have forged a new Orlando route. Consider the number of executive seats on its Airbus widebodies – 42 of them. Traditionally, airlines have received a disproportionate amount of revenue by selling business-class seats. Of late, premium class seats sales have fallen markedly at virtually all airlines as a result of the world economic downturn.
The northbound flight will depart Sao Paulo at 11:30am, and is set to arrive in Orlando at 5pm. The southbound sojourn leaves Orlando at 6:50pm, with a scheduled arrival in Sao Paulo at 6:35am the following morning.
