Traveler Index Shows Increased Frustration Over Prices
The latest Access America's Traveler Frustration Index (Web site: www.accessamerica.com) conducted in August has dropped 2.4 points from March, standing at 55.1 percent.
However, this is above the 53.9 point level reported during the same time last year.
The index also revealed that frustration over gas prices were eight points higher than 2007, and annoyance over airline prices was up by seven points.
Frustration over airline or airport service, as well as the cost of lodging, was at 49 percent.
Mark Cipolletti, Vice-President for Access America, commented: "Despite a summertime dip in gas prices, we're seeing a continued climb in frustrations over the cost of travel.
"The good news for the travel industry is that lower frustration levels in other categories, airline travel in particular, are moderating the spike in concerns over travel and lodging costs."
