Discount Airfare: Southwest Airlines’ Denver Sale

To say that discount airline Southwest has had an impact on airfares in Denver may understate the case. To underscore the effect, the carrier is selling one-way seats just now for as low as $49, exclusive of taxes and fees.

Book and buy no later than November 27. Then, fly December 3 through March 6, 2009. There’s a Christmas-time blackout: December 18 to January 4. As for other restrictions, you’ll have to purchase your ticket 21 days in advance, and travel only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays. The key restrictions you don't get at Southwest are the need to make a round-trip buy, or stay over for the night. That makes things simple.

Here’s a sampling of those simple discount airfares the carrier is fielding to and from Denver:

- Albuquerque $49

- Amarillo $49

- Austin $79

- Baltimore/Washington $119

- Chicago (Midway Airport) $79

- Fort Lauderdale $129

- Houston (Hobby Airport) $79

- Kansas City $59

- Las Vegas $69

- Los Angeles $79

- Oakland $79

- Oklahoma City $59

- Orlando $129

- Phoenix $69

- Raleigh/Durham $119

- Sacramento $79

- Tampa $129

- Tulsa $59
