Discount Airfare: OpenSkies to Paris and Amsterdam
There’s something to be said for a good price/value relationship. Companies build their fortunes upon it. Consider Target, or discount airline JetBlue. Transatlantically, you might want to add OpenSkies (www.flyopenskies.com) to the list.
The carrier offers nonstop service from New York Kennedy to Paris Orly (ORY) and Amsterdam (AMS). Book no later than November 21 and OpenSkies will sell you a seat in the PREM+ cabin of its specially fitted 757 narrowbodies for $550 to Paris, and $600 to Amsterdam. Those discount airfares are each-way, and do not include taxes or fees. Make a 14-day advance purchase, then travel between November 20 and March 31, 2009.
The most important point to remember is this: although the tickets are quoted each-way, they’re pegged to a round-trip purchase.
What do you get for the money? Lots. PREM+ seats recline 140 degrees, offer 52 inches of legroom, and come with a bunch of amenities: bottle-poured wines, fresh meals, personal entertainment systems, electrical outlets at your seat, and concierge services. You can also rack up British Airways’ Executive Club frequent flyer miles. That’s because the carrier is a subsidiary of the British flag carrier.
OpenSkies also offers a BIZ (business) section of the airplane, with lie-flat seats.
