Southwest Airlines May Cancel Midland-Austin Flights
Southwest Airlines is considering terminating services between Midland and Austin.
Officials at Midland International Airport say this is because flights are under-capacity, often only 40 percent full.
Marv Esterly, Airport Direct, said that Southwest may cut the route in May after the Texas Legislature completes its biennial session.
"Nothing's set in stone," he said. "We did discuss that. The load factor on that flight is fairly low."
The carrier currently offers services from Midland to Dallas, Houston, Albuquerque and Las Vegas.
Two months ago, it cut flights from Midland to El Paso.
