U.S. Airways Express Makes Emergency Landing at Philadelphia Airport

A US Airways Express flight made an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport yesterday (Sunday, November 16).

The carrier, which had taken off from Allentown at 8:20am, had 38 people on board. No injuries were reported.

It was forced to make an emergency landing as the landing gear did not descend correctly, according to airport officials.

Victoria Lupica, airport spokeswoman, said: "They did a flyover so they could observe if the landing gear was down."

She added that fire crews spread foam on the runway as a precaution but "there was no smoke, there was no fire".

The passengers and crew were evacuated and were taken by bus to the terminal, and the airport was closed for about 25 minutes.
