Airlines On-time October Arrivals Reach New Highs

If you're traveling this holiday season, chances are your flight might arrive on time. News from the Department of Transportation (www.dot.gov) reports that U.S. airlines recorded their best on-time arrivals for October, compared to the previous months and the same period last year.

Official figures from the DOT revealed that the rate of on-time arrivals in October 2008 was 86 percent, compared to 84.9 percent in September 2008 and 78.9 percent in October 2007.

Pinnacle Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines top the list of on-time arrivals with rates of 90.7 percent, 90 percent and 89.9 percent, respectively.

Where there's a good list, there's usually a bad list. Rounding out the bottom of airline arrival times were Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Mesa Airlines and Continental Airlines, which posted rates of 80.3 percent, 80.5 percent and 81.4 percent, respectively.
