Virgin America Looking to Launch John Wayne Flights

USA TODAY (www.usatoday.com) is reporting discount airline Virgin America has applied to launch service from John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County. No word yet on what the route or route might be, but since Virgin is based in San Francisco (SFO), we are anticipating additional San Francisco flights.

Virgin America was recently stymied in attempts to launch Chicago O’Hare flights when it could get gate space. In the meantime, Virgin America is launching Boston flights to California beginning in February.

Should Virgin America begin Orange County flights, John Wayne will mark the carrier’s fourth California airport. The low-fare/high-frills (remarkable in-flight entertainment system) already flies from San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), and San Diego (SAN).
