Better than the bar? – walk your way to way to health at MSY

Here’s a bit of a heretical notion: a brisk walk is better for you than a trip to the bar. You should try it – especially before a long flight. The folks who run Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) www.flymsy.com have long made it easy to order a drink at the airport (they used to have golf carts fitted with them that met you at the gate). Now comes word they’ve just opened an in-terminal walking path.

The route is about four-tenths of a mile long, and it doesn’t enter the “sterile,” or secure areas of the ai rport. No need to break stride while clearing security – until you head to your flight.

If you find yourself with a bit of time to spare in New Orleans before your flight, go by the Audubon Information Booth by Concourse C and pick up a map. It lays out the path through the terminal, and offers some hints on how to attain your health goals.

Given the great food the Big Easy serves up, this is a great way to knock off a few of those extra calories before heading back home.
