Health Magazine Names the Healthiest U.S. Airports
Pushing through security, running through the airport, fleeing from one gate to the next - airports can be complicated and stressful. Add to it the sometimes-bland options travelers have when it comes to food, and the airport can simply be a dismal experience. But in some parts of the U.S., the airport has become a tranquil zone meant to calm and rejuvenate tired travelers before boarding their next flight.
Health magazine recently announced its picks for America's Healthiest airports. From healthier food options to special relaxation zones, these 10 aerodromes are working hard to keep travelers fit and focused.
So which airports made the cut?
Health’s editors compiled data from government reports, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine rating agencies and trade groups, and then visited the airports. Points were given based on food choices, bathroom cleanliness, environmental friendliness, safety measures, stress reducers and added amenities including on-site fitness facilities and children’s play areas.
Which airports won the coveted prize? Travelers on Phoenix flights will arrive at Health's number one choice for the healthiest U.S. airport. Phoenix Sky Harbor International was ranked number one by the fitness afficiandos. Taking the second and third place positions were Baltimore/Washington International and Chicago O'Hare, respectively.
