InterContinental Chicago Launches Flight Information Service
Stuck in the Windy City with a snow storm on the way and only a few hours to the get airport in rush hour? Sounds like a typical winter day in Chicago. While it might be common - and more manageable - for Chicago residents, visitors to Chicago can find this experience rather daunting. But instead of cutting your trip on the Magnificent Mile short in an effort to make it to the airport with time to spare, only to wait because your flight is delayed, enjoy a few extra moments in the hotel bar, courtesy of the Intercontinental.
The Intercontinental is launching flight kiosks in the Chicago hotel lobby, courtesy of FlytePas. FlytePas, from Flyte Systems, provides feeds of real-time flight information.
InterContinental why Director of Information Technology John Barbier said, "In the wintertime especially there can be long delays and cancellations... Since we are a very service-oriented property, I had previously placed a specially configured PC in the lobby whose sole function was supposed to be to access airline flight schedules."
Barbier noted that while his idea was on target, the usage was not. "Most of the time children were trying to access the Internet or play games on it, and eventually the concierge staff became overwhelmed with guest requests to check flights or print boarding passes. Flyte Systems fixed that."
No more waiting around for your Chicago flight and wondering what, if any, delays will occur. Avoid sitting in traffic, spend a little more time shopping, or get to the emails you've been neglecting before rushing off to the airport.
