Delta, Midwest Expand Alliance
Delta Air Lines announced a new expanded partnership with Midwest Airlines which will allow passengers to benefit from both carriers' frequently flyer programs when booking flights on either carrier.
This codeshare agreement is expected to start in June and follows Delta's merger with Northwest last year.
Members of the Delta SkyMiles, Northwest WorldPerks and Midwest Miles plans will be able to earn points on flights with both airlines.
Richard Anderson, chief executive officer at Delta, said: "Expanding our alliance relationships to include Midwest Airlines is another customer benefit created by Delta's merger with Northwest Airlines.
"Delta and Midwest make natural alliance partners given both airlines' focus on delivering excellent service and a quality product. Midwest customers are known as some of the most loyal in the industry and we look forward to welcoming them and earning their trust onboard Delta flights from Milwaukee to Madrid to Manila."
The new agreement will replace the previous codeshare between Midwest and Northwest and means that Midwest customers will be able to earn frequent flyer miles on flights to 379 destinations.
