American Airlines Flight Attendants Hit Hardest by Job Cuts
Earlier this week, Delta Air Lines and American Airlines announced changes to services and staff, due to increased fuel costs and drop in overall revenue.
Reports released yesterday claim American will slash 1,600 jobs by Oct. 1. According to the Dallas Morning News, the majority of those jobs (up to 1,200) are to come from the flight attendants.
The paper released the following statistics, which shows where the proposed breakdown of job cuts will be, based on destination:
Boston: 77
Washington National: 39
Dallas/Fort Worth, domestic: 57
Dallas/Fort Worth, international: 10
Miami, international: 35
Chicago, international: 14
New York Kennedy: 57
Los Angeles: 39
New York LaGuardia: 456
Miami, domestic: 52
Chicago, domestic: 235
San Francisco: 31
St. Louis: 98
In addition, the Dallas Morning News reprinted a letter from American's Vice President of Onboard Service Lauri Curtis, which details the job cuts.
