Father's Day Travel Tips: Baseball, Blackjack and Bonding
Father’s Day is less than a week away, but that doesn’t mean booking a great Father’s Day trip is out of the question. Here are a few ideas:
Hit a home run with dad and visit a beloved national ballpark like Fenway Park in Boston or Wrigley Field in Chicago. We found flights to Boston from around $175 RT (with taxes), if you return on Monday. Weekend flights to Chicago start at $275 RT.
Can’t get tickets to a game? Try the next best thing for baseball fans. Book a cheap flight to Louisville and treat Dad to some baseball history at the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. We did a quick search and found Louisville flights for the weekend starting at $265 .
If Dad needs to really cut loose for a weekend, Las Vegas is the place to be. Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is offering 10X points on slot reel and video reel machines for valid Rockstar Players Club members all day Father’s Day. Rooms start at $299 for a Friday night stay and jump to $429 Saturday night. Rooms for Sunday night start at $179.
Golf is the quintessential Father’s Day activity, but this year, take it to the next level. The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, Calif., is running a promotion that includes a bungalow room, two rounds of golf, early check-in and late check-out. Total price is $875, including tax. We realize the price could be a little hefty for a last-minute weekend getaway, but the good news is the offer is valid through July 2.
Or, spice up your golf game in Cabo San Lucas with 30 percent off four nights at the One & Only Palmilla. The package totals $2,780 and includes two rounds of golf, a $400 resort credit valid for spa, food and golf, and daily breakfast. The offer is valid through Oct. 16.

We played around with this booking engine and found it was actually cheapest to fly on the holiday itself,as is usually the case. Remember that flying during a recession usually drives prices down, so if you've been putting off that special trip this may be the time to take it.
