PetAirways to Offer Cheap Flights for Pets

If you’ve ever worried about Fido whimpering with the other dogs in the cargo section of the plane, then consider boarding your little critter with PetAirways – the first airline in the country to service pets only.

Beginning July 14, cats and dogs can wander around their very own airport lounges, hop on board the main cabin of a Beech 1900 and ride in individual crates to their owner’s desired destination. Each plane has room for 50 crates. With attendants checking on them every 15 minutes, and frequent “potty breaks” when the plane actually lands and each animal is taken outside, PetAirways is changing the face of travel.

The airline’s website offers extensive tips for pet travel, like guides on pet-friendly cities, crate-training, and pet health 101. It also allows owners to track their furry friends every minute of the trip.

Just drop off your pet up to three days (and no less than 2 hours) before the flight, and a flight attendant will send an alert to your phone if the plane is delayed for even 15 minutes. Got a jet-setting pup? Sign up for MyPAWS frequent flier benefits.

Introductory rates start at $149 each way, and for now, destinations include New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles. Founders Alysa Binder and Dan Wiesel are starting with weekly service to each route, but plan to hit 25 cities in a few years.

Once you’re done taking care of your four legged friends, book your own cheap flight right here.
