Cheapflights Weekly Roundup: Airline News, Five-Star Hotels & Travel Deals

Boston-commons-skyline Good news from Boston: The sun finally came out today! For the first time in nearly a month, there were no umbrellas leaning on the walls in the office, no sloshing feet as people came through the front doors, no whimpers of a planned weekend on the beach ruined by the weather forecast. It was a magical moment - everyone was smiling.

Thankfully, the rain hasn't prevented us from finding the best travel deals.

This week was the week of wars: airlines outbid one another, airline ticket prices dropped, and hotels reduced rates one after another. We captured them all and rounded up the best ones for this week's Cheapflights Weekly Round-up.

Flights

Delta Mexico/Latin America Flights: As if Mexico wasn't already one of the cheapest destinations on the planet, Delta made it even cheaper to fly to Mexico with cheap flights from $199

AirTran's $39 Flights: The low-cost carrier took low-cost to another level this week with the $39 flight sale. To sweeten the pot, Delta matched AirTran's $39 routes from Atlanta in a 24-hour fare war.

JetBlue Twitter's Cheep Deals: JetBlue joined the Twitter crusade and launched @JetBlueCheeps - a Monday sale for Twitter followers.

Hotels

Discounts at Aruba Marriott: If the Caribbean is calling your name, the Marriott might be your destination: the mega-hotel announced a 30 percent off promotion at the newly renovated Aruba Marriott.

Four Seasons $1,234 Cash-back: This is without a doubt my pick of the week - maybe even the month. The luxury Four Seasons hotel launched a 1-2-3-4 promotion for it's Punta Mita resort in Riviera Narayit. Pay for four nights at the resort and get $1,234 back on your bill.

Packages

Expedia Invites You to Paradise: When Expedia asked us to pick our paradise, the options were endless. When we learned that choosing paradise also meant up to 50 percent off the total vacation price, we were sold.

I Love Paris in the... Fall: If you've always wanted to visit Paris, or you're just dying to get back to the City of Light, this Paris vacation package from $399 for fall travel is for you.

News

Our top travel news stories this week include one airline, one magazine and one mega-superstar.
JetBlue announced a new member of its travel family: lifestyles. The low-cost airline launched a Lifestyle Getaways section of its site where users can choose their vacation based on their travel personality preferences. One of the lifestyle segments is 'spa/resorts' -- which Conde Nast contributed to this week with their list of Top U.S. Spas. Finally, a few Cheapflights.com staff members honored the late Michael Jackson with memories of their own Michael Jackson travel stories - from Boston to Budapest, there was no stopping the King of Pop.

Enjoy the weekend, and we'll see you next week with more airline news, hotel discounts and travel deals.
