Airline News: Hawaiian Airlines Hires 100; Expected to Add More in 2010
Maybe it’s the great weather or the fantastic landscapes, but it seems everything is a little better in Hawaii. As most airlines are cutting back, Hawaiian Airlines is sharing some good news.
The Honolulu-based airline said this week that it has hired more than 100 people to fill various positions in the company over the last few months. The jobs include service representatives, aircraft mechanics and maintenance and cleaning staff.
In a press release, Hawaiian Airlines also said it plans to fill another 170 jobs in the early part of 2010. Those positions include 25 new pilots and 30 flight attendants.
The reason? The airline will add its first Airbus A330 in April, which will accommodate 294 passengers. This addition will allow Hawaiian Airlines to fly nonstop to the entirety of North America as well as select destinations in Asia.
The airline already employs more than 3,700 people, most of which live and work on the Hawaiian Islands.
