JetBlue Expands its Boston Flights

During a time when a lot of larger airlines are reducing service, JetBlue announced today that it will be increasing its operations out of Boston Logan International Airport. By next summer, it plans to boost its Boston service by 30 percent.

The low-cost carrier, based in Forest Hills, New York, currently offers 78 flights from Boston to 33 other destinations on a daily basis.

Now, it will add service to two more routes. Both the Chicago and Raleigh-Durham routes will increase by three daily flights each. JetBlue also plans to add service from Boston to San Francisco and San Diego

Other airlines are playing with routes, too. US Airways just reduces its Boston service from its current 80 flights per day, and is cutting flights from Boston to the Caribbean to one or two flights a day in May. It’s also going to start using smaller planes on its Boston-LaGuardia shuttle.

Southwest, on the other hand, began flying out of Boston in August, and plans to add two more nonstop flights to Baltimore.
