Compared to a year ago, gas prices have skyrocketed 72 cents per gallon, and up to $77.56 a barrel, which some analyzers say means little change for gas prices in the future. Most vacationers have heeded the warning, and only two percent more travelers than last year have chosen to hit the road.

AirTran Doubles Rewards Points for Flights to and from Milwaukee

Airtran-plane2
If you usually fly to or from Milwaukee via AirTran, you’re in luck. The airline is now offering extra motivation for book flights and earning miles by doubling rewards.

From now until Feb 10, 2010 when you book a flight between Milwaukee and any other destination in the country through AirTran, you’ll earn double A+ Rewards credits (four instead of two.) Instead of counting miles, the carrier is now counting round-trip flights, to make it easier on customers who fly frequent, short trips.

By earning rewards, you’ll accrue free round-trips that supersede blackout dates. One-way trips count towards points as well, and on a reward flight, you can opt to upgrade for free if there is room available.

AirFrance Operates Charity Flight From Paris to New York

At the culmination of a charity auction raising more than $450,000, AirFrance flew 380 passengers from Paris to New York this week.

The money for the auction goes to the AirFrance Foundation, which helps children in difficulty.

Lucky bidders participated on e-bay and flew in the new Airbus A380 superjumbo. The plane is Airbus’ biggest yet, holding up to 580 passengers, and AirFrance is the first owner of it. According to catalog pricing, it costs approximately $327 million, which is four times as much as a single-aisle plane would. Airbus has received 200 orders for the A380.

Air France will continue to run flights between Paris and New York, and potentially to Johannesburg.
