Virgin America has been named an official sponsor of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The carrier has teamed up with the basketball team for the 2007-08 season and will offer passengers a series of sweepstakes, in-flight events and special promotions. This partnership will also spread courtside, with fans on the front row given Virgin America gift bags during selected home games.

The Virgin America brand is all about bringing entertainment, fun and the celeb-treatment to the skies and the Lakers are famous the world over for bringing the same things to basketball. We’re a perfect match.”

Virgin America will launch two new services next year. Flights to San Diego will start in February and connections to Seattle will commence in March.
