© Virgin AmericaVirgin America has been named an official sponsor of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The carrier has teamed up with the basketball team for the 2007-08 season and will offer passengers a series of sweepstakes, in-flight events and special promotions. This partnership will also spread courtside, with fans on the front row given Virgin America gift bags during selected home games.
Porter Gale, Vice-President of Marketing at Virgin America, said: “As California’s only hometown airline, we are thrilled to partner with the Lakers. The Virgin America brand is all about bringing entertainment, fun and the celeb-treatment to the skies and the Lakers are famous the world over for bringing the same things to basketball. We’re a perfect match.”
Virgin America will launch two new services next year. Flights to San Diego will start in February and connections to Seattle will commence in March.
