Virgin America to fly NYC-LA
Discount carrier Virgin America yesterday (Wednesday August 29) launched its twice-daily New York-Los Angeles service. The start-up only commenced operations on August 8, but already offers service between Washington DC and both LAX, and SFO, as well as Las Vegas flights from both New York JFK, and Washington DC.
Launching the JFK-LAX flights, Fred Reid, Virgin American Chief Executive, commented: “Today marks another celebration for Virgin America, as we expand our business, adding cities and routes across the country.”
He added: “The response to our new airline has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to bringing some fun back to flying for guests in new cities in the very near future.”
Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Group founder, commented: “Virgin America has taken the spirit of the Virgin brand and is forging new ground in America. People want to be entertained while traveling and these planes offer the best entertainment package I’ve seen.”
Virgin America flights feature new movies, 18 satellite channels, more than 3,000 music files, videogames, and even an onboard chat option.
