Virgin Cuts Flights, Considers Job Cuts

Conceding to the bleak economy, Virgin Atlantic announced today it will cut flights and eliminate up to 600 jobs this winter due to a decline in airline travel.

The Times Online reports that Virgin will cut its Chicago flight service and reduce the number of flights to Hong Kong. In addition, Virgin will also cut up to 600 jobs, but information on what jobs will be cut hasn't been released.

Virgin Atlantic One-Day Sale: Chicago-London Flights from $221

Virgin Who needs birthday cake with fares like these? Virgin Atlantic is celebrating 25 years of flying with a one-day sale.

Chicago flights to London start at $221 one way when you travel between Aug. 17 and Oct. 25. Prices go up slightly for other dates.  Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 30, flights start at $254 one way and between June 15 and Aug. 16, fares begin at $261 one way.

Virgin America: First to Offer Wi-Fi on Every Flight

Blackberries, iPhones, and laptops, rejoice: You no longer get shoved under the seat or in the seat-back pocket for the duration of the flight.

Virgin America announced this morning that all of its US flights are now equipped with wireless provider GoGo® for in-flight internet service.

Virgin Atlantic Offers Cheap Flights to London

Looking for a cheap flight to London? Virgin Atlantic is offering summer fares to the British capital starting at $239 OW. Taxes and fees are not included. Can’t hop across the pond this summer? The airline is also offering cheap flights to London through Oct. 21st.

Travel is valid starting May 26th, but not all fares are valid through October. The Las Vegas to London fare is only good until Sept. 2nd, while L.A. departures at these prices aren’t available this summer. You must travel between Sept. 3rd and Oct. 21st.

Discount Airfare: Virgin America Northeast Flights from $109

Never one to leave anyone out of the party, Virgin America is offering cheap flights to Boston and New York travelers wanting to play on the West Coast.

Flights start at $109 (excluding taxes and fees) one-way, and all routes are on sale. You must book these cheap flights by May 19 and travel May 8-Nov. 11.

Virgin America Launches Orange County Flights

Break out your fake tan, your over-sized sunglasses and brush up on your gossip: Virgin America today launched its high-tech, low-fare service to Orange County. 

VA will launch with five daily round-trips between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana, California. To excite travel between the two cities, Virgin is offering  fares starting at $49 each-way.

Virgin's Business Class Sale on London Flights

Yesterday we told you about the British Airways' business class fares to London from $1,039 one-way. Not to be outdone, Virgin Atlantic has launched their own business class sale on London flights, but you have to act fast: the sale ends today, April 14.

You can choose from two travel periods, but prices will fluctuate. Travel between April 24 and May 29 or May 30 and Sept. 2.
