Alaska adds new West Coast flights
Bid adieu, Red Barron, to Alaska Air’s Las Vegas flights to Santa Rosa, Calif. They end June 3. That’s when the carrier stops flying between Charles M. Schultz – Sonoma County Airport and McCarran International. Shultz, of course, was the cartoonist who made Snoopy a star.
To compensate for the loss of the Lost Wages route, Alaska Air is adding a third nonstop Santa Rosa flight to Los Angeles. That third extra flight will operate four days a week through Aug. 25, the better to ferry fliers up to the wine country.
Fliers in deep SoCal get a break with Alaska’s new daily nonstop San Diego flights to Santa Rosa. They’re due to take wing June 5. No other carrier flies the route. Northbound flights depart daily at 9:45 a.m. and arrive at 11:50 a.m. Southbound returns leave the wine country at 4:25 p.m. and arrive SAN at 6:22 p.m.
Also on the schedule are new nonstops from San Diego to Monterey and Fresno, Calif. Those two cities don’t currently have nonstop service out of SAN.
San Diego flights to Monterey take wing June 4, Northbound flights leave at 6:55 p.m. and arrive on the Carmel Peninsula at 8:37 p.m. Southbound flights depart at 7:30 a.m. and get into the gate at San Diego at 9:12 a.m.
San Diego flights to Fresno first push back June 4 at 9:15 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. arriving in Fresno at 10:50 a.m. and 10:20 p.m. respectively. Fresno flights to San Diego depart at 7:15 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. getting into San Diego at 8:42 a.m. and 8:12 p.m.
The final piece of Alaska’s latest West Coast push consists of new Reno flights to San Jose. Southwest is a competitor on the 187-mile route. Reno flights to San Jose depart daily at 6 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., arriving SJC at 7:08 a.m. and 3:23 p.m. Return San Jose flights to Reno leave at 11:55 a.m. and 10:20 p.m., and get to the gate at SJC at 1 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. respectively.
