It’s not a sexy project, but it’s important.

Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport (BWI) just got a $15 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration that it will use to reconstruct the concrete pavement on the aircraft ramp and taxi lane located between Concourses C and D. Lighting and marking costs are included in the $15 million. The upshot: a better airport.

In a prepared release, Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley’s office says the last time the pavement was reconstructed was back in the mid-1970s.

Timothy L. Campbell, executive director of the Maryland Aviation Administration, says “The airport pavement has served us well for more than 30 years…It’s now time to move forward and rebuild.”
