Cheapflights.com Weekly Round Up: Fall Flights, Hotels and Travel Ideas
Good News: The week is over.
Bad News: So is summer.
This week we’ve realized that summer is truly on its way out, and it’s time to start seriously thinking about Labor Day, the fall, and new travel plans. While airlines have prepped for fall by hiking up checked baggage fees, we prefer to do things a little differently and focus more on cheap flights, hotel deals and great destinations.
Checked, Please:
Airlines’ checked baggage fees are movin’ on up. Both American Airlines and Continental Airlines have hiked costs for second checked bags on international flights to $50. US Airways follows in the same fashion by charging $20 for the first checked bag, $30 for the second, and adding $5 for each if you check in curbside. With baggage fees heightening, it’s a good thing cheap flights are still available.
Cheap Sleep:
Expedia sends the summer out in style by taking $200 off awesomely cheap air and hotel packages, and the MGM Las Vegas wowed us with $70/night midweek stays. Also included in the deal are hotel credits, WiFi, and other fun perks. Lastly, if you didn’t have plans to visit Miami, you do now, because you can’t afford to pass on this deal. Hotels on Miami’s Ocean Drive start at just $105, and include free breakfast.
The Right Flights:
There’s no reason to miss out on these incredible flight deals, especially when we’re talking about coveted destinations and down-to-here prices. Dig your toes into the sand with JetBlue’s $39 one-way flights to the Bahamas. If you’re in a more bi-coastal mood, Virgin America comes to the rescue. Book a flight from Boston to the West Coast for just $109 each way, and enjoy their unbeatable in-flight entertainment while you’re at it. And for future flights to London, Delta adds flat beds to its flights from New York. Lights out!
Trips and Fall:
Yes, it’s here, bring out your sweaters. Autumn is on the rise, and there’s no better way to celebrate foliage and back to school than with inexpensive seasonal trips. College students can check out these cheap flights for students and make the best of their semester, while folks looking for a quiet fall respite should consider the perfect fall getaway in Vermont.
Have a great weekend.
