Chicago airports approve 24-hour liquor sales

O'Hare and Midway amp up liquor sales
Late flights and long layovers can sometimes mean you’re stuck in the airport for hours on end. And while most have plenty of restaurants, shops and services to choose from, Chicago airports are stepping up their amenities in the liquor department.
Good news for travelers who enjoy a brew before taking to the skies: Now at Chicago O’Hare and Midway airports, you can get drinks via push-cart all day and all night.
As of yesterday, Mayor Richard Daly and aldermen made it legal to sell alcohol from the carts, and the rule passed through City Council without dissent. The aviation department can sell up to 12 licenses of pushcarts at O’Hare, and five at Midway, and licenses will cost $1,000 per year.
Only companies that already have restaurant liquor licenses are eligible.
