Score… 1,000 aircraft are expected to “touch down” at the DFW airport on Super Bowl weekend

The holidays are here, but a day of sincere reverence for football fans is just around the corner. The Super Bowl is just seven weeks away, and Texas’ Dallas/Fort Worth Airport is getting ready for some football.

The airport recently spent $3 billion refurbishing an old American Eagle terminal which closed in 2005. The new corporate aviation terminal bumps the airport’s capacity and allows it to hold approximately 70-100 aircraft at a time, making it easier for more traffic to pour in around big events like this one.

The new 8,500 square-foot facility has Wi-Fi service, a flight crew lounge, a quiet room, a U.S. customs facility and a concierge service.

The Super Bowl Host Committee expects around 1,000 private aircraft to land in the region around Super Bowl weekend, which is on Feb 6, 2011. Some travel experts say that the flashy new Cowboys Stadium has much to do with changing the dynamic and adding more excitement to bringing the game and its fans to Texas.
