Fortunately, Independence Day lands on a Saturday this year, so grab a cheap flight on Friday, and spend the weekend somewhere new:

New York City: Macy’s
New York City seems to do everything right. Fireworks are no exception. Hop on a flight to New York to catch Macy’s fireworks over the Hudson River between 24th and 50th Streets at 9 p.m. For the first time since 2000, the show will be held above the river to celebrate the 400th anniversary of exploration in a 26-minute display. Packed with 40,000 shells at a rate of 1,500 per minute, this colorful display is not to be missed.

Boston: Boston Pops
The most influential city in our country’s independence, Boston knows how to celebrate the Fourth of July. On the Esplanade near the Charles River at 10:30 p.m., the Boston Pops will play Tchaikovsky’s “1812″ Overture and commemorate the nation’s freedom. This year will be the biggest and most intricate display to date, with 20,000 pounds of explosives reaching twice as high as the Hancock Tower, so book a flight to Boston this Fourth of July weekend to make history.

Washington DC: Independence Celebration
In a historic year for the white house, the nation’s capital is putting out all the stops for this sacred holiday. A parade of 100 marching units will march down Constitution Avenue at noon, and from noon to 5 p.m., popular bands will play outdoor concerts until the National Symphony Orchestra takes over on the Washington Monument Grounds. Finally, between 7th and 17th Streets at 9:10 PM, the beautiful exhibit will begin. Book a flight to Washington D.C. to honor the revolution that made our country what it is today.

San Diego: Big Bay Fireworks

The island of Coronado bustles with the wealthy and famous all year round, but on the Fourth of July, everyone in San Diego donning flip flops and a tan is welcome to the North San Diego Bay at 9p.m. to view a spectacular show of fireworks. Whether you plan to sit on the beach, sip champagne on a boat, or relax from afar, book a flight to San Diego to enjoy fireworks over the Pacific.

Atlanta: Celebration Fireworks
Book a flight to Atlanta if you like a side of southern hospitality with your fireworks. Set up as a family-fun zone, the party at Lenox Square mall starts at 10 a.m. with live music and a fun Kids Zone. At 9:00 p.m., the demonstration begins with splashes of color and unforgettable lights.
