For some travelers it’s a added bonus, for other travelers is a downright necessity. WiFi at airports helps pass time during delays, keeps families connected during long travel periods, and ensures business meetings are on track while travelers run through airports. But, having to pay for WiFi has its limits. The costs range from $7 to $25, depending on how much time you spend online, and frequent travelers have lobbied for free WiFi at airports around the nation, in an effort to be more productive with their time.

Good news, Boston travelers: The Massachusetts Port Authority Board has approved a plan to offer free WiFi at Boston’s Logan International Airport. That means no more draining your iPhone or Blackberry battery and no more paying $7.95 for 35 minutes of Internet time before you board your flight.

The free wireless Internet access will be funded by advertising and sponsorship programs (which means travelers will be subject to various ads when they log in).  A small price to pay for free WiFi access.
