Frontier’s new Denver, Kansas City flights

Here’s the thing about Denver International: it’s a three-airline hub. That’s rare. The status spawns lots of competition. United, Frontier, and discount airline Southwest (which calls its hubs ‘focus cities’) all have major operations at DEN.

Now, one just upped the competitive ante at Denver. Frontier is launching non-stop service to a trio of new cities: Knoxville, TN; Sioux Falls, ND; and Provo UT.

New Frontier... flights to Kansas and Denver

According to OAG United Express already offers non-stop Denver flights to Knoxville, as well as Denver flights to Sioux Falls. There currently are no non-stop Denver flights to Provo.

The first of a quartet of weekly Denver flights to Knoxville get off the ground Jun. 6. Daily Denver flights to Provo start up Jun. 20.  Daily Denver flights to Sioux Falls Jul. 4.

Frontier aircraft are instantly recognizable. Their tails are the giveaway. They’re the ones emblazoned with larger-than-life images of North American wildlife. Some passengers keep score of the different critters they’ve counted.

More of those tails will also be flying to and from Kansas City soon. The move means non-stop competition on one key midwestern route, and the launch of the only non-stop flight to the second-largest city in Texas.

Jun. 6 Frontier starts twice-daily non-stop Kansas City flights to Minneapolis/St. Paul. Currently, Delta is the only player on the run. One day later, Jun. 7, the carrier begins non-stop Kansas City flights to San Antonio. Mondays and Fridays are days off for Frontier’s Kansas City flights to San Antonio.
