It’s more convenient to park now at San Jose

August 30, 2011

Park then fly ... things just got a little easier

If you live in or near the Silicon Valley the last thing you want to do is head up the coast to San Francisco International to catch a flight, or – perhaps – drive across the Bay to Oakland. You’d a lot rather fly from home, from Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International. You’d also like to have a convenient place to park waiting for you when you get to the airport.

To that end SJC (that’s San Jose’s airport code) has relocated some critical parking spots, rendering access to terminals more convenient than before. Now, Daily Lots are within walking distance of those terminals. The Economy Lots are a short shuttle bus ride away. All ADA-accessible parking has been relocated to the garages.

Chapter and verse, here’s what you’ll find next time you drive to San Jose:

  • The Long-Term Lot on Martin Avenue is no more. It’s been relocated closer to the terminals and is now called Economy Lot 1.
  • The garages are now Hourly Lots 2 and 3. The Terminal A Garage is now called Hourly Lot 2. The first floor of the Rental Car Center, across from Terminal B, is now Hourly Lot 3.
  • Daily Lot 4 is just adjacent to Hourly Lot 3, and the entrance to Daily Lot 4 is from Airport Boulevard.
  • New Hourly Lot 5 and Daily Lot 6 next to Terminal B are now up and running. Hourly Lot 5 is closest to the terminal. It’s located where Terminal C once stood.

Mineta San Jose International is the continent’s 46th busiest airport according to Airports Council International – North America. It handled some 8.25 million fliers last year. Discount airline Southwest is the airport’s major player.
