Lufthansa strike postponed
The Lufthansa strike that began yesterday for 4,000 pilots has been suspended, but flights with the German airline will continue to be irregular.
Some routine flights are expected to return by the end of the week, but throughout the strike’s development, more interruptions may occur. The strike comes in pilot’s response to the company’s rumored relocation of jobs, and shaky job security.
Lufthansa has denied any plans to relocate jobs, according to USA Today.
Lufthansa’s walkout affects its typical 1,800 flights daily, and while most domestic flights have stayed on schedule, longer-haul trips to the United States have been canceled. Lufthansa Cargo and Germanwings are also selectively participating in the strike.
For now, both sides have agreed to postpone the walkout until March 9, and to resume negotiations.
