Spring Break for Families

Don’t let the college kids have all the fun this spring. Although there are certain Spring Break hot spots for students, there are still plenty of destinations that are family-friendly. Book your flight to Florida, Washington, D.C. or California.

Orlando, Fla.

Perhaps the quintessential family vacation destination, Orlando is perfect in March and April for a family trip. Spring Break 2008 is sure to be a hit with a plethora of new attractions. Here are some of the highlights:

• Universal Studios will feature their new ride, The Simpsons, based on the television show.

• SeaWorld’s Waterpark – Aquatica – is perfect for the adventurous family. Enjoy rides and interact with sea life.

• Traveling with a sports fan? Check out the Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex. If you’re there between the end of February and March, make sure to visit The Ballpark and watch the Atlanta Braves as they train for the 2008 baseball season.

Washington, D.C.

Just because the kids are taking the week off from school doesn’t mean they should miss out on an education. Visit Washington D.C. this spring and behold the beauty of the famous Cherry Blossoms. The National Cherry Blossom Festival Family Day will be held on March 29 from 10am to 3:30pm at the National Building Museum.

Learn about the origin of the D.C. Cherry Blossoms and enjoy a day full of activities and performances. Attractions include Japanese anime screenings, traditional Japanese jazz and modern dance performances and a Kimono fashion show.

California

If you’re going to be on the West Coast, one must-see location is Disneyland. However, there are plenty of other places that your kids will enjoy.

• Traveling with sea-lovers? Stop in Monterey Bay and check out the aquarium and Fisherman’s Wharf – you’ll likely see harbor seals and sea lions. Bonus: Spring is the perfect time to go whale watching in the area.

• What kid doesn’t love LEGOS? LEGOLAND combines rides, shows and of course, LEGOS into a fun-filled day. The park is located only about an hour south of Disneyland (in Anaheim), so it’s possible to hit both places before Spring Break is over!
